I was exposed to quite a few objections during my Personal Evangelism meetings which I am listing below:
Objections/questions by Muslims:
- There is only one God, he has no family, no son.
- How can I believe in trinity? Allah is ONE and is enough for me.
- Jesus was a messenger of Allah, he was not God himself.
- Why would God need to come to earth to put everything right when He can just say it and it will be done?
- Why pray to Jesus when we can pray directly to God?
- I believe that Jesus died on the cross but why would God let that happen if Jesus was His son? Why did God let him suffer?
- I believe in the miracles that Jesus performed but that was a gift from God, just like other prophets received other miracles; Abraham and his wife were gifted with a son in old age; Joseph (son of Jacob) could interpret dreams, he also survived in the well/pit; Jonah survived inside a whale for three days and three nights; the staffs of Moses and Aaron that changed into a serpent and divided the River Nile, etc.
- The text of the Bible was changed which is why some facts are different from the Quran.
- The Quran does not say that Jesus was son of God.
- If you say that the sacrifice of Jesus was made to wash away all the sins of mankind then what will happen to Christians who kept sinning and are still sinning after the sacrifice?
- How can believing that Jesus died on the cross save me? So that I enter heaven directly?
- Even if I do agree that my salvation is in believing that Jesus died for us, will my personal sins not bring me Allah’s displeasure?
- People who died before Jesus was born, how will they be saved? Are they doomed?
- Why did mankind not stop sinning after the final sacrifice of Jesus? Why was sin not washed away from earth?
- Baptism: why is verbal apology and prayers to Allah not enough? Why dip in the water?
- The message of Christianity and Islam is the same, it just comes from two different prophets and two different books
- If all Christians are going to heaven then they will not be answerable for their personal sins on the Day of Judgment?
- The only difference between Christians and Muslims is that Muslims believe in ONE God as clearly stated in the Quran (Surah Ikhlas); all other values are the same.
20. Jesus was a miracle of God; his birth was a miracle but he was not son of God. He was His creation.
21. The main and foremost message of God is Peace, humanity and doing good deeds, and we see the mention of this in all the books of God, so why do we fight over prophets by saying that my prophet is better than your prophet?
22. Why do Christians call “Jesus” the son of God when we know that God is Almighty and the birth of Jesus was a miracle?
23. Why would God need to send His son for the salvation of man when He can simply forgive everyone from up above?
24. When Christians say that faith on the blood of Jesus will ensure salvation and entry into heaven or paradise, how do you think God will evaluate each soul for the sinful acts that Christians still indulge in? Will they still enter heaven despite their personal sins just because they believe that Jesus died on the cross for their salvation?
25. All the miracles of Jesus are not mentioned in the Quran except that he could give life to the dead and cure the ill, even those who were chronically ill and near death.
26. Jesus Christ has been given great respect in the Quran; it very clearly states that Jesus Christ was a prophet and that His birth was a miracle.
27. Quran denies that Jesus is God or Son of God
- Jesus was not Son of God
- Jesus was sent as a Prophet and a Mentor for the gentiles and believing Him to be son of God was not right.
- The Bible was lost and then it was re-written hence a lot of Holy Scripture was lost and re-invented
- The Jews are still waiting for Jesus, Christians believe that Jesus was the last messenger who came to save mankind while Muslims say that Prophet Mohammad was the last messenger of God and the religion was completed by the Holy Quran. Now who can tell what is right?
Objections/questions by Christians:
- Scripture does not say that God is triune.
- Why do Baptists criticize the “Only Jesus” for speaking in tongues when the prayer is stronger this way?
- “Only Jesus” is NOT a cult but the only right way!
- United Penticostals believe in one God. Mark 12:29: where Jesus says, “hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is One Lord”. There is no concept in the Bible of “God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit” being three different entities.
- The very first congregation was of 120 persons that included Jesus, Mary, the 12 disciples and some others. This congregation was called the Penticost, hence the name Penticostal. Jesus asked the Penticost congregation to keep praying till God blessed them with the Holy Spirit. When they were blessed they were able to speak in tongues. Thereafter they had no fear of the gentiles and were confident in spreading the Good News of salvation. How can Baptists deny this?
- The Bible says that Jesus will be “known” as God’s son. It does not say that Jesus is God or God’s son.
