On September 21, 2013, a devastating twin suicide bombing struck All Saints Church in Peshawar, Pakistan, as the congregation was concluding their service. This horrific attack resulted in nearly 200 Christian deaths and left hundreds more critically injured. It is considered one of the deadliest assaults on Christians in the country’s history.
I-LAP’s Response
Chairman I-LAP, Sajid Sandhu, immediately responded to the tragedy by visiting the site of the attack on the same day. He was accompanied by Chairman PTI, Imran Khan, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), and other provincial ministers. Together, they met with the families of the victims, the injured, church leaders, and local administration officials to offer support and assess the situation.
In the wake of the attack, Chairman I-LAP held a press conference on September 24, 2013, to publicly condemn the brutal assault. During the conference, he called on the Chief Justice of Pakistan to establish a commission to thoroughly investigate the suicide bombing and uncover the truth behind this heinous crime. Chairman I-LAP also emphasized the urgent need for enhanced security measures at places of worship for all religious minorities, underscoring the necessity of protecting vulnerable communities from such acts of violence.
