We are proud to share that Mr. Sajid Sandhu, President of Interfaith League Against Poverty (I-LAP-US/Pakistan), is representing I-LAP at the 20th International Human Rights Summit 2026, taking place from 30 July to 1 August at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City.
Hosted by Youth for Human Rights International, the summit has brought together human rights advocates, diplomats, policymakers, academics, NGO leaders, and young changemakers from across the globe under the inspiring theme, “Education for Peace.”
During the summit, Mr. Sandhu had the privilege of meeting Ms. Tebogo Joy Ngoma, granddaughter of the 1984 Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Archbishop Tutu was one of the world’s most respected champions of human rights, justice, and reconciliation. Working alongside Nelson Mandela, he played a pivotal role in South Africa’s peaceful transition from apartheid to democracy and later chaired the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, promoting healing through truth, forgiveness, and restorative justice.
A passionate storyteller for social change and Founder of Brave Hearts for Multimedia, Ms. Ngoma is carrying forward her grandfather’s remarkable legacy by using education, storytelling, and advocacy to inspire hope, empower communities, and encourage positive social transformation.
Mr. Sandhu’s participation reflects I-LAP’s enduring commitment to advancing human rights, freedom of religion or belief, interfaith harmony, peacebuilding, youth empowerment, and social justice. It also provides a valuable opportunity to build international partnerships, exchange ideas, and bring global best practices back to Pakistan.
